A: “Do you like this movie?” B: “Yes, I like it.” A: “Me too. But I don't like the cinema, it's too dirty.” B: “Oh, so do I!” A: “What do you mean?”
A: “Do you like music?” B: “No, I don't.” A: “My father doesn't, too.” B: “Eh… Pardon?”
实际上正确的说法应该是“Neither do I”和“My father doesn't, either”。
SO and NEITHER
'So do…' This phrase is used to say that a positive sentence is also true for someone.
'Neither do…' This phrase is used to say that a negative sentence is also true for someone.
John: I hate mushrooms. Me: So do I (=I also hate mushrooms).
Lucy: I don't live in London. Me: Neither do I (=I also don't live in London).
Me: Elizabeth loves coffee. So do I. Me: Harry doesn't play the piano and neither do I.
TOO and EITHER
'… too' This phrase is used to say that a positive sentence is also true for someone.
'… either' This phrase is used to say that a negative sentence is also true for someone.
John: I hate mushrooms. Me: I do too (=I also hate mushrooms). Lucy: I don't live in London. Me: I don't either (=I also don't live in London).
John's at the office. I am too. Luke isn't going out tonight. I'm not either. They've been to |
